Review Numero 6

What is the pen tool used for?
The pen tool is used for drawing lines and shapes that would be difficult or impossible to do with the line and shapes tool.

How can you manipulate a path/line in Illustrator? Discuss the use of the white arrow tool, pen+, pen-, and convert too.
By using the white arrow tool you can adjust individual parts of pen lines. The pen+ tool lets you add anchor points on any part of a path, while the pen- tool takes them away. The convert tool allows you to change any previously existing corner and turn in into a curve, and vice versa.

How can you utilize the layers palette in Illustrator?
Layers are very useful in Adobe Illustrator. They can be used very effectively for tracing. This can be done very easily by putting a picture on one layer, locking it, and making a new layer to trace on. This way you can just hide the picture you are working on, instead of, very annoyingly, having to delete it and replace it.

How do you create a clipping mask in Adobe Illustrator?
To create a clipping mask you must:
1) Create a rectangle, using the rectangle tool, that encompasses the area you want to be clipped
2) Make the rectangle's border and fill blank
3) Move the rectangle to the front
4) Using the black arrow tool, select everything you want in your clipping mask as well as the rectangle
5) Click Object/Clipping Mask/ Make Clipping Mask.
6) Grab a cold beverage and enjoy your freshly clipped work of art
