What is the difference between elements and principles?
Elements are actual pieces of a design, while principles tell us how to use elements

Can aid in readability, appearance, or message of a design. Used to hold certain elements on the page.

Horizontal, because of its stable relation to gravity

Grandeur and loftiness, they go up, and up is big

What lines suggest a feeling of movement? Why do you think?
Diagonal, unstable in relation to gravity

Soft, shallow curved lines suggest what? Why do you think?
Comfort safety and relaxation. Because of the shape and direction

These lines suggest confusion and turbulence? Why do you think?
Deep, acute lines. They look like wavves in a storm

What element defines a specific area of space?
Shape or form

What is the difference between two dimensional shapes and three dimensional shapes?
Two dimensional have width and height while three dimensional also have depth

Describe the difference between geometric shapes and organic shapes?
Geometric are structured, often symetrical, while organic shape are found in nature, ireegular

What are abstract shapes?
Simplified versions of natural shapes


Which basic shape projects an attitude of honesty or equality?
Square

What do triangles suggest?
Action and stability, if pyramid

Circles convey feelings of what?
Protection or infinity

Describe positive space and negative space?
Positive- area which contains all elements you have added to your design
Negative- gives a place for the eye to rest, nescessary for your message to absorb
What is texture?
The actual surface of a design or implied by layers of graphics.

Incorporating texture into a design can help do what?
Creates a feeling of richnes and depth

What is value?
The degree of light and dark, contrast of all tones

What is another name for value?
tone

What can the element of color do when incorporated into a design?
Convey moods create images, attract attention and identify objects
